New mission, same team. Over my last two years at Standard Metrics, I became obsessed with the problem of organizing data for LLMs to consume. I coded the prototype of our first AI chat bot and MCP to bring AI VC analysts to life. Diving deep on this problem of organizing data for LLMs to consume got me obsessed with the problem of managing context for AI or what the cool kids are calling "context engineering" now.

Gauge is solving one of the core context engineering problems: "How do I position information about my company on the internet in a way that LLMs can understand it?". This problem makes my old context engineering problems seem simple. When building a chatbot, you are in control of the tools and query layer. The main problem to solve is structure data in a way that AI can parse it accurately. At Gauge, we're helping brands tell their story to ChatGPT. We don't control the how the context is provided to the model. Rather, we optimize context for the model to retrieve. We're reverse engineering how the web search tool works and providing context in a way that the LLM will find it. Today, that's putting information in listicles since LLMs love reading listicles. Tomorrow, it might be structure data directly for models to consume. Who knows really, but it's quite fun.

Another big selling point at Gauge is the team, Caelean, Evan, and Grant are three of my close friends and the some of the most talent people I worked with at Standard Metrics. Reuniting with this team has been electric. We're closing deals fast and shipping faster.

This is a super fun problem for me to be working on, and showing up to work every day has been a treat. If you're interested in optimizing the context you provide LLMs for your brand and showing up more in LLM answers, definitely check out our product: demo link
